On Monday 27th February 2023 a new chess academy started in Staffordshire, which will run every Monday from 1.00pm till 2.30pm (except Bank Holiday Mondays). Ryecroft Home Education Junior Chess Academy takes place at the Ryecroft Community Hub, 28 New Forest Road, Ryecroft, Walsall WS3 1TR and offers coaching by Eunice and Ray Dolan, who would like to express a special thank you to Ryecroft Community Hub staff for their support.
The club was founded by Maryam Jasmin, a former primary school teacher, and is aimed at home-schooled children. Maryam says, ‘There is evidence that chess provides one of the ways which help bring children together, particularly those who struggle to mix with others under differing circumstances’
