![]() U8 George Clarkson When I was five, my mum taught me everything she knew about chess. After five minutes, my dad took over. Now I am seven, he is not much use either. Luckily with the likes of John-Paul Wallace, Tony Niccoli and Chesskid.com as well as the challenge of my new chess friends at Arnold House school and tournaments, I’ve continued to improve. The European Championships will be a huge step up. I’m excited, and I hope I can do well, enjoy the event and come home with an increased passion for the game (as long as the Russians don’t thrash me!) |

![]() Glenn Flear GM At the risk of giving away my age (!) I will begin by mentioning that I have been involved in the chess world on a professional basis for more than thirty years. I became a GM in 1987 and still play fairly actively, mainly in France (where I live with my wife and two children aged 21 and 16) but sometimes in the UK. I am also now involved in writing about the game, especially on openings and endgames, and have indeed penned a number of books on these subjects. I would also describe myself as an experienced coach, especially with juniors, having been involved with trips organised by the English Chess Federation for many years. Iām still passionate about chess and enjoy playing, analyzing, and sharing chess knowledge with others. |
