Shreyas Royal was recently selected for training by the Kasparov Chess Foundation. He was first invited to a preliminary training camp in Vienna, as one of eight top European juniors, from where only three would move on to train with Garry Kasparov. Training was given by some legendary chess trainers, and ran from the 1st to the 3rd of July.
Shreyas was one of the three participants to move on to the next and final stage in Zagreb. Over the past couple of days he and three other European prodigies received training with Kasparov. They were first asked to present some of their complicated games, then faced with very difficult tests and exercises. Shreyas was able to impress Kasparov and the selectors enough to be enrolled in the KCF’s Young Stars program. They will monitor the children for the foreseeable future to give recommendations, some online sessions, work alongside their coaches, and organise annual training camps with Garry Kasparov and others.
