Due to players being unable to attend the International programme and Academy Plus Programme, there are several places available on the ECF Chess Academy Study Weekend being held at the Hilton Hotel, Swindon on 7th (09.30-17.00) and 8th (09.00-16.00) January 2017.
Applicants are invited who have an ECF standard play grade of 70-170 and are aged under 16. The cost is £120, which includes 5 hours coaching (excluding breaks) each day for students with a titled coach such as Andrew Martin (total 10 hours), text book, equipment and 3 hours (optional) sessions for parents on helping your child to be successful in their chess.
Topics for the weekend (as per the FIDE syllabus):
MAJOR: Pawn Structures; MINOR: Doubled Pawns – good and bad
MAJOR: The Best Games of Bobby Fischer -what can we learn from them?; MINOR: Blocked Central Pawn Structures
IMPORTANT: These topics will be taught at an advanced level, not beginner level – therefore it is essential that students arrive at the weekend with a pre-existing understanding and working knowledge of the topics.
You must be eligible to play for England (i.e. not another country) and not committed to another FIDE Academy.
Please email Traci Whitfield on firstname.lastname@example.org to apply with the child’s name, grade, level of ECF membership (e.g. gold) and your contact details (address, preferred email and phone number)
